Rediscovering YOU~

In times of difficulty, it's always reassuring to know that He is always there for us!
This song really moved me and made me keep those words close to my heart. Thought of sharing it =)
Special thanks to Vanessa for posting it up ^^

So Painful it HURTS!!!

Like the title? I feel so proud of myself for thinking of it ^^ (Don't worry, for those who thought of this phrase before, I'm not gonna claim it as my own =D)

Felt sorta awful last night so I slept in the middle of watching a movie in my room. Of course, I paused, where I left it so I could continue the next day. I was feeling so terrible, getting up to switch of the lights took so much of effort =S

Woke up this morning with a splitting headache. So awful, I couldn't bear to go back to sleep (weird huh?). I couldn't even stand up straight, I was in total kyphosis (hunched back) for almost 3 hours. Even when I took a bath to relieve myself, it still didn't work. (I usually love taking baths because that's when I can TOTALLY relax ^^) I was practically leaning my head on the wall while showering =S

Still feeling no difference, I boiled hot water and drank honey water. And it made me feel better ^^ Seriously, I see HONEY in a whole different light now! If I were to choose some survival food, it'll definitely be honey!

Okay, I'm not gonna start explaining all the nutritional benefits of honey but to put it shortly, HONEY IS AWESOME!!!

I was still feeling a little woozy so I finished my movie (Btw, it was 'Push') and started doing random stuff since I knew studying wouldn't do any good. Nothing will get into my head anyway (not that ANYTHING gets in when I'm normal =S)

I painted my nails blue a few days ago, so I decided to do something on top of that. Sure beat learning on the 'renal clearance of nitrogenous compounds' XD

I really like this design. Goes well on short nails too! Definitely going into my 'Do it again!' design list =D

Why was I having short nails? Easy, because I cut them! =P
Okay, why did I cut them? Because percussing with long nails is dreadfully painful! And also because in CC, everything must be neat and tidy XD

A little note for non-medical students who are reading this post:
1.) Percussing is when the doctor puts his/her hand on you and taps it with his/her finger on the other hand to make all those cool sounds! (mainly on the tummy, in clinics)

2.) CC - Clinical Competence, where we learn how to interact with patients by taking medical history and do clinical examinations (sadly, not an easy for an extreme introvert like me D=)

Atarashii no koibito~

(for those who know Japanese) "WHAAAATTT?" =P

Btw, for those who don't know Japanese, it means "New Lover"

O.o!!! Is that even possible?! This is Joanna we're talking about here!

Hehe.. Let me take you back down memory lane when I fell in love at 1st sight last year..

(Btw, the unload-able picture is one of my dear Sho-chan with the headphones ^^)

Oh alright.. I didn't get a new (human) lover. Yes, the geek has got a new gadget. Don't get me wrong, I'm still loyal to my 1st love. In fact, both of them get along REALLY well (recording songs XD)

Okay, enough blabbering. I have been contemplating to get Snowball-chan (the model name is 'Snowball', you'll understand why later) for a while now, since last year and FINALLY decided to splurge and buy it online =D

Last Tuesday while 'studying', some unknown person called..

"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Joanna Tan?" ('Tan' pronounced and 'suntan, TAN')
"Okay, I'm near your area and I have a package for you. Could you tell me how to get to your place?"
"Alright.." I just gave the guy directions

Came down and got the package. Went back to my room and RIPPED is open! Neatly of course XD

JAAAN~!

See how I chucked my notes to one side in some of the pics? XD

See why it's called a Snowball yet? =)

I have yet to record anything proper with it since EXAMS are coming up D=
But I did try it out and the sound quality!!! *Sigh* Falls in love all over again~

またネエルアアト?

Yea, I uploaded pics into my com so I I decided to uploaded the nail art pattern I tried last time (2 weeks ago) ^^
I kinda prefer the previous one I did. This one looks too galactic =S

Sam painted the Irish flag on one hand and wanted something else on the other hand. Since it's Ireland, I decided to draw rainbows and a pot of gold at the end ^^

She then felt super patriotic so I painted the Malaysian flag on her big toe~

Thanks for the Countdown~

As for the remainder of today, I have about 37 days and 2 hours till my finals.
Progress made? ZERO~!

Ahah! Thanks to the daily countdown FB updates by Zaf, most of us are getting more and more paranoid by the day. Thanks Zaf! Really a wake up call.

I now make it a point to actually understand every single lecture of a day BY THAT DAY!!! No sleeping till then! Slack a little in the middle? Okay, but covering some 'not yet understood' past lectures would be great.

Did another nail thingy again. Too lazy to post the picture. I prefer the previous ones though.. Although this one looks pretty futuristic~

*Sigh* All the best to me~

Manzoku? Tsukareta? Nayamu? アアト!

Okay, it's been a while. I realise I say that in almost every post XD

Well, I'm on my Easter Break now so I'm supposed to be 'free' for 2 weeks. Nope, I'm not travelling this time (sad on my part). Instead, I'm staying here in Dublin studying (rotting) in my room all day.

In my opinion, I only started studying seriously towards the end of the first week of my break. Sad.. I know, I've wasted my time by wasting my life away (FB and dramas are the 'worst' things on Earth! They eat my brain memory space!!!)

I know I've been thinking too much recently. Regarding my future when (actually the word to use is 'if') I graduate and some other more current stuff. I may sound 'emo' but that 'want to cry out of frustration' feeling comes almost every night =S
Still think Joanna is calm and composed? Truth is, she's a total wreck on the inside =(
At times like this is when one would fully rely on God's providence =)

Mom told me to go out and treat myself every once in a while. When she meant 'treat myself', I think she meant by 'shopping'. She did say go out and makan at least once a week, which I do! Every Sunday after church ^^

As I was saying, I didn't feel like shopping for clothes (weird huh?) and I recently got into this nail art thing which is pretty cool! Discovered a nail art set (as in nail polish with thin brushes, precision nozzles, etc) that I could buy. So instead of buying clothes, I bought that set =)

Today, I managed to do a pattern out of boredom =D

Heh.. Pretty cool huh? My fingers look so stubby when I macro-ed the picture. (Note: I just took a random nearby bottle to hold so the design could be seen on all the fingers, so the bottle does not signify anything ^^)
I did another design last week that looked like Avril's 'Girlfriend' pink with black checkers which looked pretty cool too!

I feel pretty satisfied today. Not only did I manage to do my nails properly (=S), I managed to cover 4 lectures (most I covered in a day for this whole break so far) despite waking up super late =D

*Blank*

I'm seriously *blank*
Have not done ANYTHING productive for ages.

Study? Ahah! It being 'nostalgic' explains enough..

Ok, the only thing I did was complete my part of the HBS assignment. Even that's not worth to counter the amount of time I've wasted.

Start studying now? Oh man! Where do I start? *cries in corner*

Tsukareta..

Sundays are usually the most tiring, yet satisfying of days. Just came back from lunch, which started at 4pm =S

Well, church ended a little later than usual today and it usually takes almost an hour to get to the city centre by bus. Was full though! <-- That's the satisfying part.

Now, I don't have to eat dinner! (I usually don't on Sundays due to the satisfaction ^^)

International Night Dance

Sam was initially suppose to do the Kadazan Dance. There were problems with the timing and integration so she decided to scrap it and join the Chinese Dance. Used several nights to choreograph some of the dance moves.

Then IT happened.

The Kadazan Dance was back on! So Sam and May went to dance the Kadazan dance with their Kadazan Gang. At least I managed to find enough members for me KungFu Gang!!!

We had loads of fun. Sure, it was tiring. Serene had bruises on her knee that made it look as if I abused her =S

On the big day itself, we had loads of fun! No stress at all! (not that I know of =P)
It was such a great and memorable night! To show you how fun it was, check out my FB page =P

For the videos, check out http://pmcsa.webs.com/apps/videos/

Good job to everybody who made this night possible. It was a really rushed 3 weeks, but it all paid off. I'm really proud of each and every one of us. I mean, people would be amazed too, when they hear the background story of how we managed to pull this off within such a short time frame!

LOVES!!!

Mada Ikiteimasu!!

I'm still alive! After not updating for almost a month!

Many things happened during my absence on blogger. The one thing I truly regret is, that I have not done ANY studying ever since I came back from CMF (during CNY).

So I came back from CMF and celebrated Chinese New Year. Went dinner and unexpected karaoke with a whole bunch of us! Sichuan Restaurant. Need I say more on how SPICY the food was? It was like, chopsticks on one hand and tissue on the other. The only sounds we heard beside small talk was nose sniffling and those hissing sounds people make when the food is really spicy. Kept on refilling tea too!

It came!

The International Night Recruitment Email by none other but our dear VP2, Murni, who was the Project Manager in charge. I replied, saying that I'm willing to dance and that I'm willing to HELP with MODIFYING or ADDING any of the choreography if I'm needed.

The next day, I met Murni who said:

"Hi Joanna! Can you help choreograph the Chinese Dance?"

"Eh?"

"Can ar?"

"But I said I can help modif-"

"But nobody has come up to me saying that they can choreograph Chinese Dance. And you know right, Chinese Dance is one of the MAIN dances to add in Malaysia?"

"Yea, but what about the other dances? Got choreographers adi ka?"

"Got already. Only Chinese Dance. We're gonna have a meeting tonight. If you can, can you come?"

"SWT!! Okay, I'll see what I can do"

.....

Soon that night was the first International Night Meeting. Meeting between the director, project manager, president, vice presidents, choreographers, props manager, etc.

Director: So, who's the choreographer for the Chinese Dance?

Evelyn: Joanna can do it!

Me: O.o!!

So it was decided! Joanna is the Chinese Dance choreographer!!!

CMF

So yea, I attended to my first Christian Medical Fellowship Conference on the 12th-14th February.

It was held at a small place called Swanwick, Derbyshire (go check GoogleMaps). It's where a whole bunch (more that 300) of aspiring Christian Medics ALL OVER UK gather once a year to learn more on life as a Christian doctor and to have LOADS of fun!

We had 4 seminars. Mine were:
Psychiatry
Contraception
Caring for Dying Patients
Answering other Faiths

Those who are conducting the seminars are the people with all the experience themselves. Christian doctors who are still in practice or have chose to serve God in their respective ministries.

It was a great experience! I learnt so much from this conference!

We didn't just have seminars. Of course we had lots of fun and games, including the Ceilidh (Irish and some others) dance! It was so much fun!

Met so many new friends from all over the UK and had great fellowship with everyone. We met more people during meal time because we get to sit randomly at 10 seaters tables. Oh yea, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS by the way =D

On Saturday (13/2) night, we all stayed up and talked up till after 1.00am. One of our friends, who stopped by London before the conference bought roasted duck from China Town and shared with everyone. It was our 'family reunion dinner' away from home. At the stroke of 12.00am, everybody (well, the chinese) started greeting everybody HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! My first CNY away from home!

The next morning, my room-mates and I opened our door to see 3 decorated pouches with some sweets inside tagged with our name on it which said "HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!". Aww...

Didn't really get the chance to take so many photos because we were pretty much busy with our activities. Had to wake up super early, and by the time we ended, we'd be dead tired! Of course towards the end, we managed to take loads of picture (but still not enough for my standards) and posted them of FACEBOOK!

I'm most definitely going for the conference again next year!

Sekai ga Odoru

Well I came back from the CMF conference. It was a blast! Shall, write on it next time when I have more time.

Things have been very hectic for the past weeks. And now, it has just just gotten busier for me as we have to perform for the college's International Night on the 11th March!

Details would come in the next post when I have time!

Off to class I go!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

London Ikuzo!

So I'll be leaving for London again in about 40 minutes.. Not exactly central London, but in a place called Derbyshire ^^

Will be going to attend the CMF (Christian Medical Fellowship) Meeting there. I'm really anticipating a great and fruitful time there~

And I get to ponteng one day of college! (like THAT'S ever a big deal for Joanna XD)

New Layout

Just trying out a new layout ^^
Feedback?
This one or the one before? Can put less apps on this one though..

Amazing Grace

Went to the 1st CU meeting for this 2nd semester. We had MOVIE NIGHT!

Popcorn, sweets, chocolates, fruits, snacks and drinks!!! Not forgetting the most IMPORTANT element of movie night, that's right... THE MOVIE!!!

Title: Amazing Grace

As it's title says, it really portrays the amazing grace of God in the life of William Wilberforce in his fight to abolish the slave trade. Based on real historical characters, well, I can say that this is one of the most inspiring movies that I've watched ^^

Juuken Kekka!

So yea, a day before me results are said to be published, my classmate came BANGING on our unit door. Out of curiosity I peeked out of my room door to check out on what was happening.

"RESULTS OUT ALREADY!!!"

Seriously, my heart dropped. I felt the blood draining from my face.

She told me how to check the results, so I went to my computer and saw the link... It was RIGHT THERE! Just a click away for me to discover my bright or dark future lying ahead.

Before clicking, I prayed. Prayed REALLY hard. I was desperately crying out (in my heart) to God. "Oh God! Just let me pass this exam. I know that I did not do well this time so just a pass in all my modules would suffice"

I kept on praying as I clicked on the link...

The first word I saw...

PASS

"Thank you LORD!" I couldn't thank HIM enough! Gave a great sigh of relief and kept on saying "Thank You" while I read the details of me results.

Well, they weren't really that great of marks.. Just borderline pass. But I'm somewhat content. Will just have to work harder and smarter!!!

Manzoku

I feel kind off satisfied today. Woke up this morning on my own at about 9am thinking "Ah, just another day to pass by" then I started to continue reading a book I borrowed from Hosanna. My automatic alarm rang at about 10am. Then I realised that I totally forgot to switch off the alarm. Well, it was a good thing I forgot. If not, I'd be reading all the way till noon.

Kept the book and was about to mandi then I though "Since it's still early, should I go anywhere?". I realised that I have not been shopping as planned (one part of my agenda for the 2 weeks holiday). My broken pair of slippers needed a replacement. The 2 weeks is about to end anyway...

"Should I go shopping?"

"Un! Yes I shall!!!"

Determined, I got out off bed and headed to the bathroom. Had my breakfast (more of branch), drank a whole lot of milk (expiry date soon =S) and left for Dublin 1 (for those who are unaware, I live in Dublin 2 =D)

Bought a whole lot of stuff and paid a whole lot of money (I won't tell here. Too guilty). Oh well, at least I'm sort of satisfied from what I bought (went to the fitting room 3 times I think >.<). I shall try to refrain from any form of leisure spending for the next month (emphasis on the 'try to')

I suppose that's all for now.. Results tomorrow!!!

Matta?

Hello~
Missed me? Haha I was kind of busy for the past month (?). Well, exams are over. I'll just have to worry about my results which are by the way being released on Friday!!! Nerve Wrecking!

Did I mention that I had a White New Year? Haha YES I did!!! It was so snowy and cold in the beginning of the year. It's getting warmer though *joy*

I'm on my 2 weeks semester break right now.. Everybody either went back to their respective countries or travelling. Joanna wants to save money since she's going to UK for the CMF (Christian Medical Fellowship) meeting for CNY, so she didn't go anywhere. I'm sort of alone here la..

This week I've been pre-occupying myself with preparations for the Praise and Worship for this coming Sunday. I'm sure it's gonna be a great time for us and the whole service =D
Had our practice last night (ok, by nowit should be night before last =S)at Abraham's place. Will have our last practice at church on Friday evening ^^

Well, that's much of a brief update for now ne? Haha~

Haha~
